Req ID18904Cedar Fair is seeking a Accounting Manager at our Michigan's Adventure location . This position executes the financial accounting activities of the company as developed by the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), Controller and Corporate Director - Regional Financial Accounting. This vital role assists in the execution of policies and procedures required to maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and prepares financial statements with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial reports.
The Manager Financial Accounting- Regional Accounting reports to the Corporate Director – Regional Financial Accounting and assists with managing accounting staff. This position supports and assists Accounting and Operational leaders at Cedar Fair parks and at the corporate level. This role partners frequently with team members in Park Operations, Business Intelligence (BI), and various departments within Shared Accounting Services(SAS), including Financial Planning & Analysis(FP&A). This position benefits in building connections with FP&A, BI, SAS and Park operating teams to better provide collaborative planning, forecasting and decisionmaking analysis to the executive team. Candidates may utilize these collaborative experiences with other operating partners to develop accounting skills and to build a platform as a stepping off point into other areas of SAS or to pursue a more senior role with the company.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of income statements and balance sheets for multiple properties with accuracy and timeliness. In doing so, ensure that the internal control processes, policies, and procedures are strictly adhered to by all associates.
- Review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting entries for assigned regional properties as prepared by staff accountants to ensure timely period closing schedules are maintained.
- Partner with other shared service functions to ensure transactions posted are accurate and timely.
- Work with park operational staff to prepare monthly financial forecasts.
- Oversee general ledger account reconciliations process.
- Build relationships and liaison with park operating associates to ensure operational activity is accurately reflected in the financial statements.
- Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis, park operational staff and the Corporate Director – Regional Financial Accounting in building the annual operating plan for your assigned park.
- Review workflow processes and recommend improvements and efficiencies when possible.
- Follow and enforce compliance with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with GAAP.
- Follow and ensure that the internal control processes, policies, and procedures are strictly adhered to by all associates.
- Address internal audit requests for information as needed.
- Promote and maintain a strong culture of technical competence, personal accountability, and ethical behavior in all aspects of accounting work.
- Hire, train, manage, coach, develop and complete performance evaluations of full-time Accountant I and/or Accountant II team members, part-time associates, and seasonal financial accounting staff.
- Assist in developing all shared accounting services team members, provide ongoing training and maintain strong associate relationships.
- Adhere to and enforce all Cedar Fair policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and will demonstrate commitment to Cedar Fair core values and cornerstones.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
- 6+ years public accounting experience, combined public accounting and industry experience, or progressive industry experience.
- Multilocation and/or multi-departmental experience preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant designation a plus.
- 2-4 years successful experience in a leadership role within accounting.
- Previous experience with Oracle based products, including JD Edwards and/or Essbase a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (with advanced Excel skills) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills and able to work effectively independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, financial analysis skills, and time management skills.
- Confidence to ask questions and get clarification, display a positive attitude, and have a strong work ethic.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the capability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
