Overview:

Cedar Point's Internship Program Experience combines our business needs with college level internship requirements. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to grow and learn in the hospitality and amusement park tourism industry through hands-on exposure to day-to-day operational tasks within your assigned Division. You will be responsible for providing excellent guest service and utilizing leadership skills while collaborating on group projects to ensure a successful operation.

All interns must meet the following requirements: 

  • Work a minimum of 8 weeks between May 1 & August 31 (hours worked outside of this timeframe will not be counted towards the internship program)
  • Work Availability: Minimum of 4 days per week of FULL availability 
    • 2 of the 4 days must include either Friday/Saturday OR Saturday/Sunday
  • Scheduled to work a minimum average of 32 hours per week 
  • Complete the required Learning & Development

Responsibilities:
  • Hotel Guest Services Internship- Preferred Majors: Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management; Hospitality Management, Business Management; Operations Management. This internship will focus on guest relations within the hospitality industry. The positions are centered on front of house positions within the resort environment. The positions include front desk, activities, bell attendant, concierge, reservations, and marina. In all positions the student will learn proper guest service skills, conflict resolution, how to properly prepare for a day within each department, and much more! From this internship you should have a better understanding of, effective communication, proactive leadership, guest recovery, training and development and effective scheduling and labor control.
  • Hotel Rooms and Facilities Internship - Preferred Majors: Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management; Hospitality Management, Business Management; Operations Management. The hotel rooms and facilities internship centers on the back of house operations. This includes housekeeping, maintenance, and linen services. In housekeeping, students will learn how to run a housekeeping operation within a hotel. Our housekeeping internships are also established supervisory roles that will train interns on the full process of cleaning, inspection, supervising, and more. In maintenance, students will learn the processes of keeping the hotels in remarkable shape. Maintenance Interns will also learn the proper use of machines that are used both indoors and outdoors, assist in troubleshooting guest in-room issues, and the upkeep of our outdoor areas. In linen services, the intern will learn the processes of linen distribution and the machinery it entails.
  • Resort Food & Beverage Internship Leadership Experience (Must be 19+ Years Old) - Preferred Majors: Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management; Hospitality Management, Business Management; Operations Management. The Resort Food & Beverage Internship is a full look at both the guest experience and the general operations of a food service location. The student’s focus will be gaining work experience in one primary location. The student will learn a multitude of different skills and see firsthand what goes into running a successful operation. From this internship you should have a better understanding of effective communication, proactive leadership, health and safety protocols, guest recovery, training and development and effective scheduling and labor control.
  • Marina Internship - Responsibilities of a Marina internship will include learning Dockmaster Marina Software Package, Accounting, Purchase Orders and Receiving for the Marina Store, using Gate Central for ticket sales, answering dock holder questions, and working very close with the Marina associates helping them with scheduling, Kronos, Dayforce, training etc. The student will learn proper guest service skills, conflict resolution, and how to properly prepare for a day at the Marina office. This role is one of two seasonal associates that would be responsible for managing, opening, or closing the marina office as needed. From this internship you should have a better understanding of effective communication, proactive leadership, guest recovery, training and development and effective scheduling and labor control. This role primarily works in an office location but occasionally works outside. Responsibilities are across all three marinas – Cedar Point, Castaway Bay, Sawmill Creek, & Sawmill Creek Golf Pro shop.
  • Resorts Group Sales Internship - Support the overall functions of the sales department by handling inbound requests, communicating internally, and handling full aspects of groups in assistance with all sales managers. Support sales and catering functions across multiple properties by qualifying all inbound inquiries and forwarding appropriate follow-up. Supports sales and catering functions with clerical work to include but not limited to contracts, room list, resumes, final invoicing and guest surveys. Ensures details of programs, groups and events are properly communicated to all affected departments. Prepare reports as necessary to develop a more informative database for improved management decision making and critical evaluation of work activities. Work with the golf club on incoming golf group reservations, setting up tee times and payment collection. Order and distribute VIP amenities for incoming groups
  • Resort Restaurant Auditor Internship(Must be 21+ Years Old)

    Auditors will play an important role in the success of our various locations. In this role, the student will visit each location and complete a variety of audits. These will include training and certifications, alcohol and brand standard, health and food safety and financial audits of each location. The auditor may be asked to assist locations during peak business hours. The student will be fully immersed in different types of food operations, including those that serve alcohol. From this internship you should have a better understanding of, effective communication, proactive leadership, health and safety protocols, training and development and labor and COGS.

  • Resort Restaurant Operations Management Internship(Must be 19+ Years Old)

    Interns will be placed into one of our restaurants or quick service establishments as a member of the leadership team. Ideal candidates possess the ability to train, guide and motivate associates to achieve divisional goals. Training is provided to ensure a well-rounded understanding of both Front of House and Back of House operations. Other responsibilities include assisting in location audits, maintaining appropriate cost and labor levels, completing weekly inventory, and ordering products.

  • Resort Restaurant Launch into Leadership Internship

    Interns will work in each position within one of our full service or quick service locations, additionally the student will complete a variety of leadership classes. Ideal candidates possess a passion for service and commitment to success. Throughout the internship the student will have the opportunity to review training materials, schedules, ordering procedures, invoices and the cost of goods. Interns can expect to gain knowledge and skills that will launch them into the next level of leadership


Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be at least 19 years of age (Resort Restaurant Operations Management and Resort Foods Internship Leadership Experience)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age (Resort Restaurant Auditor)
  • Must be attending an accredited college or university within the United States
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law
